Courtesy of staff and abilty to communicate interest without sounding imposing on the client
The breakfast facility closing at 10am on Sunday (noting that of Saturday closes at 10 30am). More can be managed into this activity.
Service was good. Hotel is old. I have to change the Rommel because the room smelled. My daughter had to change the room because a/c did not work. The new room she moved to, the bath room flooded. I think plumbing and a/c are not uptodate. Rooms smelled
The hotel building itself is beautiful, the location unparalleled (across the road from the promenade), and the facilities (pool, restaurant, courtyard) were elegant and inviting
We found the room facing the courtyard to be rather noisy and it lacked privacy with the only windows opening onto the passageway. The extractor fans in our room did not work. We found the staff (front desk and restaurant) to be rather stiff and not overly attentive.
The front desk were second to none and made our stay wonderful.
The bar staff are very disorganized.
The excellent service and offerings at the hotel
Loved the location, with the views of the sea and mountains, but also easy access to downtown. Right on the "red bus" line which is great for tourists. The staff were excellent and very accommodating. Also enjoyed the bar/restaurant which seems to be a trendy spot for locals and visitors.
The rooms are a little small, but nicely appointed. The breakfast was great, but did not find the food in the bar all that terrific.
Everything was excellent front desk staff extremely helpful and efficient
Lots of character and wonderful open courtyard for dining and drinks. Service was excellent and the staff were full of recommendations in terms of what to do and booked us tours to Robbin Island and the Table Mt cable car. We will definitely return.
It has quiet traditional charm with all of the modern facilities to make if very comfortable.
Excellent hotel with amazing friendly staff. We have been going to the Winch for nearly 20 yrs. Always 1st class service.
The location is very good, with awesome sunset views from the outside seating. The breakfast was very good, the rooms were clean and good size.
They charge a ridiculous high fee for WiFi. For the price you pay for the room, this should be free to all guests of the hotel. This is the only thing that would make me consider another hotel on our next visit.
The Winchester is a lovely hotel, the staff could not be more helpful. The design and age of the hotel gave it an air of stepping back in time and for 3 or 4 days as there was so much to see in Cape Town it was great.
Not a lot to do in the hotel and the pool was a bit small with not enough sunbeds.
I enjoyed the traditional aspects of the hotel - the Victorian courtyard, stately rooms, luxurious surroundings. Its proximity to the seaside walkway provided an excellent view from our balcony and easy access to shopping. Winchester Mansions was our base from which we explored Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope and Table Mountain.
The service in the dining room was far too slow, but the food was excellent. Also, responsiveness to a problem that we had with the safe in our room was very, very slow holding us up for an unacceptable length of time when we were ready to head out for the day.
Location, free shuttle to areas close by. Good breakfast buffet. Nice surroundings.
Free shuttle is sometimes disorganized or late. Hotel runs some events in the evening (wedding receptions...) and it can be annoyingly noisy.
Location is good
The "Junior suite" book was a very small extra room less that 4 square meter. Not at all s suite. The room DID NOT correspond to the offer on the website The first night my daughter had to spleep in a sofa too small for her. The The staff was in general with a trade union mentality doing the minimum. Nobody is assigned to help with luggage when cars or taxis arrive. No fitness centersBreakfast was often chaotic with most many guest arriving just for 10 AM. Sometime it took 10 min just to get coffee. Staff was more interested to make bills (with 0 charges because breakfast was included) to get tips rather than helping customer. Relation between price paid and services received is a disaster. The swimming pool is small, not what you expect in such a hotel INTERNET access in the room in based on MEGABYTES (Mb) used !!!!! Staff is more interested by tips that providing service to customer Does NOT deserve 4 stars. Lives on his former reputation an location in front of the see (although very few rooms have see view)
